REACH OUT FOR KENYA - 2 Day Countdown...

Call on Kenya's leaders to respect and protect human rights

The upcoming International Day of Action for Kenya organized by Amnesty International on February 27, 2008 will demonstrate solidarity with the people of Kenya and call on the Kenyan government to protect people from politically-motivated and ethnic violence. Countries across the world will protest the continuing human rights abuses in Kenya by taking part in a series of international events, including online actions and street demonstrations.

Please join us this Wednesday, February 27, in an exercise of solidarity!

Echo the voices of the Kenyan people by leaving messages of support on our blog!

Words can translate into actions. Words can offer hope. Words can inspire change.

The stakes go beyond Kenya, whose socio-political stability is an essential ingredient for the security of eastern and central Africa. Kenya's stability also ensures a relatively safe environment for hundreds of thousands of Somali and Sudanese refugees. In an increasingly volatile region, Kenya must remain standing. Extend a hand in support!

It is a shame that the politicians are standing in the way of peace for ordinary Kenyans as they chestthump and engage in brinkmanship. Shame on them. My wife is kikuyu, I am kisii, lived in luoland, eldoret and thika and speak ekegusii, dholuo, kikuyu, kiwashili and english. What will i tell my children happened to their country? Politician fix this mess, you started it!

May those on all sides of politics realise it's in everyone's interest that they work together for peace in Kenya. My thoughts and prayers are with all those suffering from the recent violence.

As a Kenyan I think this politicians are just masking to the public but when they are in SERENA hotel they are wining and dining together ,when they make comments to the press they hurt amillion kenyans each moment. With Annan we thought the selfishness will end but they are still thinking it is business as usual. We urge the international community to put sanctions on this individuals so that they dont access any money and even medical ,education and any basic needs like the suffering other kenyans and even deport they siblings who are out studying with the taxes the poor Kenyan pays.

Can we Kenya without Kenyans? In this mediation process lead by Annan the politician have put the interest of Kenya and their own first, before Kenyan. We Kenyan we want peace and peace alone through peaceful means.Politicians should put their intreasts away and listen to Kenyans. Many are dead, thousands in the camps while millions have lost their livelihoods and years of development.

I tend to think that out leaders have not fully understood how grave the situation is otherwise the nation could now be in the healing process.Am afriad that time is first running and if they have failed in resolving the issues at hand, its important they own up and step aside and have someone else who can save our nation.I believe there are not doing enough and if they are, its not in the interest of kenyans otherwise we could be there by now.I fully support the pressure by international community on our leaders...no efforts should be spared to get kenya back to where it was.

To the people of Kenya, my heart is with you as we all hope for peace. I believe that peace is possible, that even as the situation continues to be challenging, Kenyans in communities can be heroes of peace and stop the violence.
We have to believe in the Kenya we know and love, and re-create it.
Warm regards,
Inbal

I sincerely hope that that the power-sharing agreement just reached means that a time of reconciliation and peace will be coming to Kenya. My thoughts are with you all.
