Back to School
AS summer comes to its end and fall semester is about to kick off, I am happy to tell you guys "Welcome Back to School". I am sure you had a great summer, stayed active and informed about Amnesty's activities, attended interesting events, etc. Thank you very much for participating in the events and helping out. It's an awesome feeling to realize you there are always activists throughout the country who support immensely AIUSA's work.
Well with the start of the fall my time's up in AIUSA. However, I am going to stay active and follow Amnesty's activities. I advise you to do the same. Now that you are back to schools, get active again with your groups.
Here are some tips:
- If you are in a new school/collage check out whether there is an Amnesty group. If there is one join them, if not start one. I am sure you know how to start a group. If not, ask for more information at your regional office or check the information on http://www.amnestyusa.org/
- Schedule the first meeting as soon as you can
- Spread the word and involve new students
- Check AIUSA website for the news
It's been a great summer for me with AIUSA. Hope you guys will go on with the excellent job you do to help protect the human rights.

Amnesty U and the Leadership Summit
Dear Activists,
It was great to meet you all at Amnesty U and the Leadership Summit in Denver, Colorado. For me it was a great experience and an incredibly interesting learning process. As promised before we all learned something new as well as had some fun. What about you, did you learn anything new and interesting?
If you did and want to share it with others, please write us at youth@aiusa.org
Thank you all for attending Amnesty U and the Summit. I hope it was a good experience for you, and you will be able to use the knowledge and skills gained during the last few days in your future Amnesty work.

Summer is Party Time-Host a House Party
Hey guys and gals,
Summer is the greatest season. You ask why? Well probably because the majority of the coolest parties are held in summer. Maybe not... Anyways, here's an idea for your next party- HOST A HOUSE PARTY, a really unique one. The party I am talking about is one that will help raise awareness and help people.
Less than half of the New Orleans residents evacuated during the human rights disaster that resulted from Hurricane Katrina have returned home. Thousands remain displaced due to the absence of affordable housing, with rent increases up more than 60%, and the majority of public housing still shuttered. While most of those public units were barely affected by Katrina, 80% are closed and facing demolition.
Join in the screening the documentary "This Is My Home," which recounts the challenges former New Orleans residents have faced in their endeavors to return home after Katrina.
You can click here to register to host a house party to screen the film.
By clicking here you will download a guide with step-by-step instructions for planning your event.
If you can't host your own screening, you can view the list of available parties and join one that is near you.
