 Today is the FINAL day of the National Week of Student Action. We know you guys have been working hard and have put on some great activities. We want to encourage everyone to keep up the great work today, too. Go out with a bang!! Let's make some noise and help bring an end to Guantánamo!

Hey Everyone!

I'm sure you all are working hard on your campuses on drawing attention to the human rights issues in Guantanamo.  I have heard many successful, inspiring stories from activists.  There have even been some who have overcome tough challenges in order to continue their fight.  I wanted to remind everyone to keep pushing for those petition signatures, letters to senators, and continue making those amazing videos for our YouTube contest.  We can bring attention to this issue, sway opinions, and put strong pressure on our government to change their policies!

The National Week of Student Action has started out with a bang!  Student groups are holding events around the nation to raise awareness about the treatment of detainees in Guantanamo.  Here are some of the upcoming events: Tonight, April 1^st, the Brevard County Amnesty International in Florida is screening the film "the Road to Guantanamo".  George Mason University (VA) students will detain volunteers in a mock cell. The volunteers will only be released after 50 people have signed a petition to President Bush calling on him to close Guantanamo.  North Hunterdon is having bake sales and petition signing days after school with the members of their club in orange jumpsuits.  Some will be wearing tape over their mouths.

If you need help or ideas for your events, check out our organizing kit and website for helpful hints. Remember, your actions this week are vital to our cause! We need all of you to help wake up Congress and get our representatives to make a change!
